WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades provide a guaranteed boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the item level by +3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item is not required by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the necessity to roll for a perfect model.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be made on any kind of weapon or armor. However, the item used to upgrade will be consumed forever and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. It is recommended to visit the upgrader at least once every few weeks to ensure that your equipment is up-to-date.

Upgrades can cost more based on the item level, however they'll always be less expensive than purchasing new gear. For example, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points purchasing a similar piece from another player will cost 105.

Upgrades are items which can be used to upgrade weapons tools, armor, and other accessories. They can be purchased from item upgraders NPCs in a variety of currencies. They can also find them in random treasure lists. This could mean doing outdoor activities, or by taking on dungeons and raids of all difficulty levels to obtain lower-tier gear or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons that have a high difficulty for endgame gear. These crests can be exchanged with an upgrader for the item such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade steps and routes.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult, but the system introduces some changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it will no longer require Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their gear to the highest possible ilvl on all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

It's also essential to use crests with care, since they have only one purpose. For instance it's best to make use of all your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment you have and keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan to create. This is particularly applicable to trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character, which can only be eligible to avail the account-wide discount if all slots are full of high-quality equipment.
