The sensor is located near the edges of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via the grey wire (T55/49), then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

It is located on the outside of the transmission above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then uses this information to control the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference to correlate with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are not in sync and could indicate the chain is stretched or a jump link on the upper chain of timing. The code will not appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It is a little tricky to test as there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. It should read approximately 1000 ohms when the sensor is at full operation. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at maximum speed, i noticed a huge decrease in power. It was like the engine was running out of gas. Or, my injectors weren't firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. When I start the engine, there are no sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th stays shut. I tested the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55/30/55/48/55/14/55/48/ i get zero Ohm. I think the issue is in another location.

I also tried to reset the PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it runs fine with the G28 connected. However the intermittent misfire issue still occurs at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I think I've ruled everything else out. I'm concerned that i may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please share them! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sensor is identical to the G4 and both function in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a salvage yard or in a local parts store. Test them out - put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black end of the connector). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY ADU) engines needs to know both the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. To do this, it utilizes a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could cause the engine shutting down.

A damaged G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox, a gearbox that shifts faster than normal, and/or a misfire in gear. If you are experiencing any of these problems, it is likely that your sensor is going bad and should be replaced. The good news is that they are very cheap and Audi tt key (www.metooo.co.uk) easy to find particularly if you're looking at the Bosch model, like ours. Alternately, GM's version this component is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A damaged engine sensor could cause a number of problems in your audi car key replacement. It is an important part of the transmission in your audi key fobs since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slowly the car's engine is turning. When this sensor fails, it will disrupt the performance of the transmission, as well as the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. There should be an average resistance of 1000 ohms between these two points.
